In District 4, too many residents face barriers to care—whether it’s a lack of nearby services, difficulty getting to appointments, or not knowing what help is available. A healthy community starts with making healthcare accessible, affordable, and responsive to real needs.
My vision is simple: healthcare that works for everyone, at every stage of life.
As your County Councilmember, I will focus on connecting people to care and making sure resources reach those who need them most. Veterans, in particular, have earned access to benefits and services, yet many are unaware of what’s available or how to navigate the system. I will support stronger outreach and coordination so veterans and their families can easily find local resources, healthcare options, and support services. Strengthening outreach means meeting veterans where they are—through community partnerships, local events, and direct communication—so they can easily connect with healthcare, counseling, and support programs. When veterans have clear pathways to care, the entire community benefits from their continued strength and leadership.
Mental health and addiction recovery are just as important as physical health. I will work to protect and strengthen community-based mental health services and substance use treatment programs. Protecting and expanding mental health and addiction recovery services ensures that residents can access treatment without stigma or delay. These services save lives, support families, and reduce strain on emergency systems—when they are accessible and adequately funded. This includes supporting crisis response teams, community-based counseling, and long-term recovery programs that help individuals rebuild stability and hope.
As the senior population grows, so does the need for accessible, proactive healthcare. For seniors, preventive care can make the difference between independence and crisis. I support expanding mobile health screenings and chronic disease management programs that bring care directly into neighborhoods. These services help catch health issues early and support aging residents in staying active and connected. Increasing mobile health screenings brings essential services directly to neighborhoods, helping detect chronic conditions early and supporting seniors in managing their health. These efforts reduce preventable hospital visits and allow older adults to age with confidence and independence.
Access to healthcare also depends on basic supports like transportation. We also know that outcomes in healthcare can also depend on access to healthy foods. Reliable transportation helps seniors attend medical appointments, run errands, and participate in community life. While expanded meal programs fight food insecurity and promote better long-term health outcomes, especially for those living with chronic conditions . I will push for investments in the existing senior transportation programs so residents can get to appointments safely and reliably. I will also support meal programs that help older adults maintain their health, dignity, and independence.
Healthcare is not just a personal issue—it’s a community one. By strengthening outreach, expanding mental health resources, and ensuring seniors receive the support they deserve, this campaign commits to a county where everyone has the opportunity to live a healthier life. When residents are healthier, families are stronger, workplaces are more productive, and neighborhoods are more resilient.
Healthy residents build healthy communities.
